2017 | Captain Robert Pollack - Troop L At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 Captain Robert Pollack was patrolling on I-95 at that same time a medical transport vehicle with three surgeons were transporting a human heart to a nearby Hospital. Viability of a human heart is 4 hours from the removal of its donor to implant in a recipient. The vehicle was 45 minutes behind schedule when it broke down on I-95. Captain Pollack was dispatched to the disabled vehicle and made a quick assessment of the circumstances including the time, distance to the hospital and viable life remaining in the heart. He asked one of the physicians to take custody of the heart and joined him in an immediate trip to Jackson-Memorial. Captain Pollack received authorization to make an urgent trip transporting the heart and the surgeon. Balancing speed, time and safety, the heart safely arrived within prescribed limits. A private citizen received the heart as the result of this Auxiliary State Trooper actions. Captain Pollack's action reflects favorably on law enforcement everywhere. |

Mosley were traveling Southbound on 17-92 in Debary, heading toward S.R. 400, when Trooper Iovine witnessed a vehicle turning left from a side street. The driver turned right in front of another vehicle, which resulted in a head on collision. Both Mosley and Iovine exited their vehicles and checked on the persons involved. The occupant of vehicle one appeared to be ok. The driver of the second vehicle seemed incoherent and could not immediately be removed from the vehicle. The doors were jammed as a result of the impact. After several attempts, Trooper Iovine successfully pried open the driver’s door and attempted to remove the driver’s seatbelt as a fire ignited in the engine compartment of the vehcile. The driver did not respond to the Troopers and had a strong grip on the steering wheel which made it difficult to remove him. After several tries, A/Lt.
